FAQ

HOW CAN YOU HELP MY PET WITH AN ONLINE VET SERVICE?

Our one on one video consultation with our experienced board certified veterinarians are able to provide your dog/cat with expert tailored advice for their problem as well as an effective treatment plan.

Whether it’s a new problem or you need a second opinion we are here to help.

Early intervention is best for your pet and we are removing the barriers such as travel, trauma and cost so you can get your buddy’s health back on track.

CAN I USE A VETCHAT CONSULTATION INSTEAD OF GOING TO THE VET?

We assess your buddy’s problem and advise on what to do. Often the advice will be how to manage your pets condition from home, other times the advice will be that you need a hands-on examination or diagnostics from your local vet to get a diagnosis for your pets condition, and we’ll provide a time frame that you should have this done.

vetchat consultations are here to help you optimise and make better decisions about your pets health.

WHAT KIND OF SYMPTOMS CAN A VETCHAT CONSULTATION HELP WITH?

Use vetchat when you’re worried about your pet so we can help by advising on what’s best to do. We can also provide further information and support for your pets already diagnosed condition/s as well as provide a second opinion when needed.

Common reasons for a video consult include:

  • Chronic condition support
  • Allergies
  • Itchy skin
  • Vomiting/diarrhoea
  • Cough/sneeze
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Early dental disease
  • Puppy and kitten care
  • Minor cuts and infections
  • Paw pad issues
  • Behavioural problems
  • Nutrition and diet management

Please keep in mind that we are all about early intervention and advice and NOT for emergency situations. In emergencies always call your local or emergency veterinarian immediately.

CAN YOU PRESCRIBE MEDICINE WITH AN ONLINE CONSULTATION?

In many cases your pet won’t require prescription medication and can be treated/managed at home.

At this point in time, our vets are not able to prescribe medication via the video consultation. Your local veterinarian can do this after a hands-on examination and/or tests. We can give you advice about the medication your pet is taking and will assist in the management of their condition.

WHY SHOULD I PAY $39.95 FOR AN ONLINE CONSULTATION?

WHEN SHOULD I GO STRAIGHT TO MY LOCAL VETERINARIAN?

There are certain instances where your pet needs to go straight to your local veterinarian or emergency centre (providing your location gives you access to one) for a hands-on examination and tests.
vetchat is not an emergency service and all matters of urgency should go to the local or emergency veterinarian.

This will be emailed to you as a pdf file as soon as possible after your consultation.

If seeing your local veterinarian is required as part of the treatment plan take your summary and plan with you to assist your veterinarian.
